Saturday, December 19, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Piece together a winter tree with a personality of its own. Mix colorful stained glass, tiles and ceramic pieces as you transform a wooden tree-shaped tray into a finished mosaic for your winter table.
What you’ll do
Explore the colors, shapes and textures of glass and ceramic as you plan your tree. Try different pieces side by side, move them around, and see how your design changes before you glue anything down. Alexis Johnson will guide you through cutting and shaping your materials to fit your wooden tray, with room to experiment as the mosaic comes together.
Once your pieces are in place, you’ll grout the mosaic and add finishing details. You’ll leave with a finished tabletop tree to display all winter or give as a handmade gift—and the skills to keep exploring mosaic work. There will be a half-hour break for lunch.
